He Reached Down
Lyrics
He reached down from heaven and rescued me; he drew me out of deep waters. Psalm 18:16 Holy Bible, New Living Translation
Story behind the song
In the summer of 2020, I reached out by phone to the ministry called Insight for Living Canada. The young lady I spoke with was kind and sent a card with a personal note that she was praying for me. The verse on the front of the card was Psalm 18:16 "He reached down from heaven and rescued me; he drew me out of deep waters." That card and that verse were so encouraging that I wanted to remember it, so I put music to the verse.

Verse 1
My heart was sad, lonely and troubled
So very tried, I wondered how I could go on
Discouraged and afraid, I could not even pray
The Lord reached down and strengthened me and gave me peace
Verse 2
I was caught in the trap of the enemy
He lured me in with the bait of deception
I could not break free but the Lord came and stood by me
He reached down and led me to a place of safety
Verse 3
Waves of fear threatened to overwhelm me
Torrents of doubt threw me into confusion
I cried unto the Lord and so swiftly He answered me
He reached down and pulled me out of deep waters.
Verse 4
The Lord is my rock and my fortress
He is my shield and the strength of my salvation
I cried unto the Lord; from heaven he heard my prayer
He reached down and set my feet upon the Rock
