recorded in key of Bb
You've Set Your Love on Me
Lyrics
key: C
CCLI Song No. 7254437
Verse 1
Pain and misery had been my closest friends
Depression and despair had me in their grip
But then I cried out to You,
"Have pity on me, Lord. With trouble I am overwhelmed.
Come quickly to help me, O God."
Chorus
Thank You, Lord, You've set Your love on me
Thank You, Lord, You've not forgotten me
On the highest mountain, through the lowest valley
I will not be afraid for always You're close by my side
Your presence comforts me.
Verse 2
From the gates of death You have delivered me
And You have brought me out of darkness into light
You reached down and rescued me out of the deepest pit
You set my feet upon a rock
And put a new song in my heart
Verse 3
When I am in pain, in trouble or distress
I will cry out to God for He will hear my prayer
Give your burdens to the Lord, He will take care of you
He will not let you slip and fall
Take courage and wait for the Lord

Story Behind the Song
In the evening, I had watched a video of a live theatre production of the story of Ruth (based on the book in the Bible by the same name). As I reflected on what God had done for Ruth, I began to consider what God has done in my own life. And so this song was birthed.
